1950’s style nightgown set
Spotlight on a ready made dreamy 1950’s style nightgown set as photographed by Nina Rizzo. These handmade pieces feature orange creamsicle colored satin ribbon and lace accents, embroidered cotton batiste, and a translucent organza negligee. Created from a vintage mid-1950’s pattern which states it is sized ideally for 38″ bust, and 30″ waist. The fullness at the bustline of the garment itself is about 62″. The waistline is comfortably roomy for a range of other sizes. The finished back length of nightgown is about 46.5 inches. Sale price of $295.00 includes domestic shipping. Random Thoughts: I love to work with vintage patterns, it is like working on historically themed puzzles. Depending on the pattern source and era, there may be mysterious markings, perforations, and code-like notches to help guide the sewist on their way. Many early patterns assumed that no instructions were necessary, which makes for an interesting challenge. When I create vintage style clothing like this nightgown set, I like to use modern fabrics for daily wear, or choose something unexpected (depending on the project).
