Custom ordered costumes

Custom Ordered Costume Information:

Professional productions: When is the deadline? How many actors/characters are there? What are your specific design/construction needs, including multiples and distressing requirements? I can design a show from scratch, or provide costume technician services for your design staff.

Deadline? When is your receive-by date? Custom items due within two weeks are considered rush orders, please see below. Some items may not be available to rush order due to their complexity, fabric availability, and my time constraints. A limited number of custom orders are available during Halloween season (August 1 – October 31) or while working on a film or theater production. Contact me to verify current availability.

Costume specifications? Please provide a description, or reference images/sketch.

Fabric preference? Factors to consider: historical accuracy, durability, comfort, and your climate. I do not create items from inferior quality materials, metal, plastic, elastic, spandex, lycra, or foam rubber.

General size information? What is your height in feet and inches, and what are the circumferences of your chest and waist around the belly button line – not your pants waist size? I need your actual body measurements, NOT garment label size.

Budget range? I can suggest fabric and style options based on this information. Custom work costs more than in stock items, with final cost depending on specific project details, including materials and deadline.

International customer? I ship worldwide via USPS, FedEx and DHL.

Virginia resident? Welcome, neighbor! Sales tax will be added to your order.

Surprise Gift Orders – Not Recommended

Due to my All Sales Final policy, please have the recipient directly involved in the custom order process. They will then be available for accurate measurements and to select preferred details, colors, and style points. Contact me for details.

Custom Order Process Overview

Custom Cloaks and Robes: For custom cloak or robe orders, I need the specific style, fabric, and color information, and your appropriate measurements from the links below. Your contact information, and payment are required to enter my working queue.

Prices: The final cost depends on materials used, level of detail, deadline, and garment complexity. Labor cost is $35 per hour, which includes a limited amount of communication per order, design and research, pattern drafting, cutting, construction, embellishment/distressing if applicable, and preparation of the parcel for shipment. Price estimates are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. I reserve the right to decline orders.

Fabrics/Materials: I do not work with customer supplied materials, but have access to many excellent suppliers of wool, silk, linen, cotton, etc.

Measurements Required

All of your information will remain strictly confidential. Accurate measurements of your body are essential to ensure proper fit. I measure differently than other companies, please use my measurement blanks with diagrams and descriptions below.

Returning customers, please retake your measurements if you know they have changed or the measurement data I have on file is older than 6 months.
For questions regarding how or where to take measurements, please contact me. Take measurements over what you will wear under what I make for you, and while wearing shoes/heels if applicable. Use a cloth measuring tape, not a metal shop tape. Do not add ease – I will add this for you. Let me know any unique requirements, i.e. prosthesis, arthritis or other considerations for closures, etc. In some cases, working with a local designer, maker or seamstress may provide the best results as they can offer in person fittings throughout the construction process. Please see “Alterations” below regarding post-receipt measurement and garment changes.
